JODHPUR: Two sisters were found dead at their home in Manai village in Jodhpur Friday, a day before their weddings scheduled for Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Shobha (25) and Vimla (23), daughters of Deep Singh, and both worked as teachers in a private school.
According to ADCP (West) Roshan Meena, wedding celebrations continued at the house until late Friday night. Around midnight, the sisters went to their room to sleep.
At about 4 am, their health suddenly deteriorated and family members rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. The bodies were then brought back home.
The family began preparing for last rites without a post-mortem, but authorities reached the spot around 6 am on receiving information and stopped the cremation.
The bodies were sent to the MGH mortuary for post-mortem and later handed over to the family.
Preliminary investigation suggests the sisters may have died after consuming a poisonous substance, though the exact cause will be confirmed only after the post-mortem update.
